Memory foam is one of the most-loved mattress materials—and for good reason.
It contours to your body and hugs your pressure points for joint pain relief, making it an excellent option for anyone with back pain. Plus, most memory foam mattresses on the market today contain cooling technology to ensure a cool, comfortable night’s sleep.

Loom & Leaf vs. Memory Foam Hybrid
Saatva has two memory foam mattresses in its product lineup: our award-winning Loom & Leaf and the latest addition to our lineup, Memory Foam Hybrid. Both mattresses are made with high-quality materials that could never be stuffed into a box. They also both come with Saatva’s signature 365-night home trial, lifetime warranty, and 24/7 customer support.
While these two mattresses share some similarities, they have a few key differences you should know about before deciding which one is right for you.
1. How the mattress feels
Memory foam mattresses typically contain multiple layers of different types of foam. A mattress made of memory foam alone would be so soft that you’d sink right into it.
Most memory foam mattresses start out with a base layer of polyfoam, which provides support and durability. This base layer is topped with a memory foam comfort layer (or multiple foam comfort layers) in the upper part of the mattress. These comfort layers are what give the mattress its distinctive feel.
Our two memory foam mattresses have very different comfort layers, so they don’t feel the same.
Our
Our ultra-premium 5-lb memory foam mattress for a body-hugging feel
memory foam mattress has the deep, body-hugging feel you’d expect from a traditional memory foam mattress and is plush yet supportive. If you love the cradling feel of memory foam and need relief from back or joint pain, Loom & Leaf could be a good choice for you.
That feel comes from the 2 ½-inch layer of high-density 5-lb. memory foam and the 2-inch layer of 4-lb. cooling gel-infused memory foam in the upper part of the mattress. The gel-infused memory foam also ensures a cool night’s sleep.

, on the other hand, feels body-contouring yet responsive. The mattress has an organic cotton cover with our patented Lumbar Zone® Quilting for breathability and enhanced support to ensure spinal alignment.
A ½-inch layer of cooling gel-infused memory foam provides the sleeper with extra support in the lower back area and absorbs heat from the top of the mattress, pulling it downwards to be dissipated by the layers below. A 1½-inch layer of cooling memory foam follows, offering contouring support and pressure point relief while also initiating internal airflow.
An 8-inch layer of pocketed comfort coil with edge support, meanwhile, responds to your body’s movements while still isolating them and resisting impressions. It also offers a bank of air that acts as a reservoir for heat throughout the night.
2. Comfort levels
Saatva uses a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest) to describe how firm each of our comfort levels feels.
Loom & Leaf comes in two comfort levels: Relaxed Firm and Firm. Relaxed Firm (a 5-7 on our comfort scale) is our most popular comfort level as it suits all sleep positions, from side to back to stomach.
Firm (an 8 on our comfort scale), is ideal for stomach sleepers who need added spinal support or anyone who likes the feel of a firm mattress.
Memory Foam Hybrid has a medium-firm comfort level (a 5-7 on our comfort scale). This firmness level is ideal for couples with different firmness preferences as well as side, back, and combination sleepers.
3. Price
Mattresses made with high-density 5-lb. memory foam (the most premium memory foam you can find) are more expensive than other memory foam mattresses. That’s why Loom & Leaf comes with a higher price tag than the Memory Foam Hybrid.
Here’s the breakdown of our pricing for comparison:
- Loom & Leaf: $2,395 (queen)
- Memory Foam Hybrid: $1,795 (queen)
