Paralympic Committee to spotlight the essential role of sleep in recovery and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen my team told me that Team USA chose Saatva to be their mattress and restorative sleep provider, it validated all of the work and sweat we&#8217;ve done to build&nbsp;<em>the<\/em>&nbsp;premier mattress brand,\u201d says Rudzin. \u201cI am humbled to partner with the best athletes the world has ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-staging.saatva-node-stage.tsc-starts-coding.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/olympics-3.png\" alt=\"woman stretching arm while sitting on bed\" class=\"wp-image-35185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog-staging.saatva.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/olympics-3.png 700w, https:\/\/blog-staging.saatva.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/olympics-3-300x171.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"isPasted\">The importance of sleep for athletes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As Rudzin notes, \u201cRestorative sleep is scientifically linked to better athletic achievement.\u201d Here\u2019s a look at recent research on this subject:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 2023 review of studies published in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC11779686\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Cureus<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;concluded that tailored sleep strategies are key to athletic performance, recovery, and well-being.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study authors note that poor sleep quality and insufficient sleep due to competition-related stress, travel, and training schedules can worsen athletic performance, increase the risk of injuries, and make recovery more difficult.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They share that some strategies that can improve sleep in athletes (and therefore improve athletic performance) are increasing sleep duration, practicing good sleep hygiene, utilizing mindfulness techniques, and reducing screen time before bed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 2023 review of studies published in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sportsmedicine-open.springeropen.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s40798-023-00599-z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Sports Medicine &#8211;
