According to Fibri,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2814941\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">research<\/a>&nbsp;reveals that dreams serve a specific purpose in your brain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dDreams can help you search through the day&#8217;s events for whatever you didn&#8217;t have time to address or anything you\u2019re going through,\u201d she says. \u201cYour dreams are a way to get everything out of your system.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dreams can also be great for your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva-node-stage.tsc-starts-coding.com\/blog\/why-dreams-are-good-for-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overall health and mental well-being<\/a>. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/niosh\/work-hour-training-for-nurses\/longhours\/mod6\/03.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>&nbsp;(CDC) offers a few tips to get you started:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make your bedroom dark.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep the temperature in your bedroom cool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use a comfortable mattress and pillows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Block off noise using earplugs and putting your phone on \u201cdo not disturb.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid watching TV, reading, or working in your bedroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do rehearsal therapy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fibri recommends rehearsal therapy (RT), or nightmare scripting, to turn your bad dreams into positive ones.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou write your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva-node-stage.tsc-starts-coding.com\/blog\/what-causes-nightmares\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nightmare<\/a>, and with guidance, you come up with a different ending and rehearse it,\u201d she says. \u201cIf you have a disturbing or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva-node-stage.tsc-starts-coding.com\/blog\/recurring-dreams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recurring dream<\/a>&nbsp;about something traumatic or extremely unpleasant you\u2019ve experienced, you can go back and rewrite the narrative, rehearse it, and then start dreaming.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new narrative shows you have autonomy and power over your mind, adds Fibri.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wakefully app offers a tool for logging dreams and rewriting them to create a new narrative. You could also use a dream diary or journal to write about your dream experiences.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhether it\u2019s the Wakefully app or your own dream journal, just start writing something,\u201d says Fibri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practice meditation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want more control over your dreams, practice\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva-node-stage.tsc-starts-coding.com\/blog\/meditation-for-better-sleep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">meditation<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fibri says developing a meditation practice about a year and a half ago has really elevated her own dreaming experience. She does her dream work first thing when she wakes up but also likes to meditate in the morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/31058200\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2019 study<\/a>, long-term meditation can increase your chances of having\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva-node-stage.tsc-starts-coding.com\/blog\/what-is-lucid-dreaming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lucid dreams<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lucid dreaming involves being\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2737577\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">consciously aware of your dreams<\/a>\u00a0while asleep.
